Stray versus feral cats

Cats are included in the list of the World’s 100 most alien invasive species.

Stray cats are cats that had at some stage been socialized to people at some point in their lives, but has left or lost their homes, or were abandoned, and no longer has regular human contact. Over time, a stray cat can become feral as her contact with humans dwindles.

Feral cats are unsocialized outdoor cats who have either never had any physical contact with humans, or human contact has diminished over enough time that they are no longer accustomed to it. Most feral cats are fearful or people and are not likely to ever become a lap cat or enjoy living indoors.

Most cat problems involve cases of overpopulation of cats in public areas and they become a dirty and unhealthy nuisance.

Mongoose | Meerkats

A short introduction to the workshop instructors and why their background should inspire potential student’s confidence.

Mongoose, Meerkats, are significant carriers of lice, fleas and ticks.  They therefore pose a direct threat to employees on site as well as a contaminant threat to products produced on site.  Meerkats are hosts to an array of ticks that contain tick-borne diseases, such as the African tick-bite fever, caused by the bacteria species Rickettsia africae. Additionally, meerkats are a vector of rabies. Such diseases are transferable to humans and domesticated animals and can cause illness or death.

Meerkats are not aggressive, but they will defend themselves with sharp teeth and claws that can injure humans.
